Virgin Media Television has launched its 2020/2021 autumn and winter schedule today (28 August 2020). Much like RTÉ the COVID-19 restrictions have hampered any major announcements. With the retirement of Ivan Yeats in June VMTV have choosen Ciara Doherty to replace him on The Tonight Show and Tommy Bowe will replace Ciara on the Ireland AM couch. The Irish based Channel 5 drama will get its Irish Debut in September.

The 20th series of the hit ITV series, I\'m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will be shot in the UK for the first time. The series would normal be in the Jungle outback of Australia but due to the COVID-19 crisis the producers have opted to Staycation. Ant and Dec return has hosts. The King or Queen of the Jungle, will now be King or Queen of the Castle. The series will also air on Virgin Media One.

Virgin Media Television is to axe 780 hours of live TV from its schedules. Virgin Media One had recently announced a major increase in live TV in 2019 replacing ITV's This Morning with an extended Ireland AM, Elaine and News at 12. Ireland AM will see an hour cut from its programme, Elaine will move back to 3pm each weekday, while Virgin Media news will be cut by half an hour moving to 12:30, meanwhile their NEWS on TWO show was axed in 2019.

The BAI Sound and Vision fund has agreed on funding to 15 drama in the last 3 rounds. The announcement of the next round of funding is due in september. The fund is made up of money from the TV Licence Fee. The 15 dramas include RTÉ ONE's Taken Down and Women on the Verge and Virgin Media 1's Blood which all aired last season, along with TG4's feature film Finky which debut at the Galway Film Fleadh. Roddy Doyle's Rosie was also announced as part of the funding.
